Our Digital Leaders and eCadets want to wish the whole school, parents, teachers and Giles Brook Friends a very Happy Christmas and wonderful New Year.
Our 6 x Year 6 Digital leaders / eCadets took up this challenge to create a new eSafety user agreement and posters. They have all worked extremely hard on this project, here is a what they have been up to. We gave them the task to create an updated students Safe User Agreement which will be sent home in the new year for all students to read with parents and sign to send back to school for filing on their record.
As well as this we then wanted them to update the eSafety Promise posters which we have next to ALL computers in school. We wanted the SUA and eSafety Promise to tie together so all children could easily recognise and read it.
We decided to have a KS1 / Foundation / Nursery one which was simpler to read than the KS2 version. The digital leaders / eCadets first got some ideas from all our other ecadets in year 3 - 5. They then individually came up with draft examples, which they used when giving a presentation at a meeting with our headteacher. There they discussed their ideas, the rules and layout they had come up with. Between everyone they then decided how they wanted it to look and agreed the rules for each.
They then broke into groups to create the 2 posters and 2 letters.
This has results in 2 x Posters, one each for KS2 and rest of school and 2 x Safe User Agreements again for KS2 and rest of school.
There work has also been submitted to the eCadet website: https://www.ecadet.zone for marking.
Here is their finished work.
Our Year 6 eCadets/Digital Leaders have been working on the eSafety promise and today had a meeting with Headteacher Miss Britnell to discuss what they have created. Over a couple of sessions, we have looked at various eSafety rules, what rules best work at Giles Brook. They have created their own versions of the eSafety Promise, also know as the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and today have presented their ideas to Miss Britnell.
We discussed the different versions created, what we liked about each one and we have agreed on the rules.
The year 6 DL's/eCadets are now going to create a final combined version of the AUP which will be sent home for all students to discuss with their parents and sign in the new year. They are also going to update the school's Think Before You Click Poster, which ties up with the AUP.
They've been very busy and worked very hard and it's been a great project for them to take ownership of.
Our Digital Leaders worked so hard this lunch time creating posters to highlight how to stay safe when shopping online. They want to share this information with their parents, adults, teachers and everyone who wil be using the internet to buy presents.
They used Google Drawing to create the posters, please pop along and see all their work, it's in the corridore near the first year 4 classroom, just through the door from the ICT Suite.
