Free School Meals
Dear Parents/Carers,
In line with Government guidance we are doing all that we can to ensure that eligible pupils have access to free school meals.
Children who are eligible for Free School Meals (not Universal Infant Free School Meals) will, whilst the school is open, be able to come to school to collect a packed lunch if they require it.
Chartwells, our catering contractor, will be preparing the meals and from Monday the 23rd March, if your child is eligible for a Free School Meal you will have the opportunity to visit the school between 12.15pm and 1.15pm to collect your child’s lunch.
The government are currently developing an approach to providing support through supermarket and shop vouchers as an alternative and we will keep you updated of any developments once we receive them.
Best wishes,
Claire
Headteacher

Thank You
Dear Parents,
We would like to thank you all for your messages of support in what has been a whirlwind of a week - we have never heard the word ‘unprecedented’ used so many times!
As you are aware, school will be closed from Monday except for certain groups of children. Children who are attending next week will be shortly receiving an email about the arrangements.
You will also have received a letter detailing how your child can access learning from home. Don’t worry, your child’s teacher will be in communication with your child at least weekly and will be setting regular work. Teachers have never had to work like this before and this week has been a massive learning curve for everyone so I am sure this new type of working will evolve over the coming weeks. Please be patient with us.
All children who are eligible for Free School Meals (not Universal Infant Free School Meals) will be able to come to school to collect a packed lunch if you require it. Further information about collection times will be provided later today.

And don’t worry… this won’t be the last you hear from us or Giles Brook Primary School. We will be updating you with information as soon as we hear it.
We are really going to miss your children and we know they are going to struggle with not seeing their friends and teachers. All we ask is that everyone follows the advice given by the government in order to stop the spread of this virus but also, everyone looks after each other in these coming weeks, if not months. That way, hopefully, life can return to normal sooner rather than later.
With very best wishes
Claire , Angie and everyone at Giles Brook School
