Click Here Free School MealsDear Parents/Carers, In line with Government guidance we are doing all that we can to ensure that eligible pupils have access to free school meals. Children who are eligible for Free School Meals (not Universal Infant Free School Meals) will, whilst the school is open, be able to come to school to collect a packed lunch if they require it. Chartwells, our catering contractor, will be preparing the meals and from Monday the 23rd March, if your child is eligible for a Free School Meal you will have the opportunity to visit the school between 12.15pm and 1.15pm to collect your child’s lunch. The government are currently developing an approach to providing support through supermarket and shop vouchers as an alternative and we will keep you updated of any developments once we receive them. Best wishes, Claire Headteacher Thank YouDear Parents,
We would like to thank you all for your messages of support in what has been a whirlwind of a week - we have never heard the word ‘unprecedented’ used so many times! As you are aware, school will be closed from Monday except for certain groups of children. Children who are attending next week will be shortly receiving an email about the arrangements. You will also have received a letter detailing how your child can access learning from home. Don’t worry, your child’s teacher will be in communication with your child at least weekly and will be setting regular work. Teachers have never had to work like this before and this week has been a massive learning curve for everyone so I am sure this new type of working will evolve over the coming weeks. Please be patient with us. All children who are eligible for Free School Meals (not Universal Infant Free School Meals) will be able to come to school to collect a packed lunch if you require it. Further information about collection times will be provided later today. The government are developing an approach to providing support through supermarket and shop vouchers as an alternative. We will keep you updated of any developments. And don’t worry… this won’t be the last you hear from us or Giles Brook Primary School. We will be updating you with information as soon as we hear it. We are really going to miss your children and we know they are going to struggle with not seeing their friends and teachers. All we ask is that everyone follows the advice given by the government in order to stop the spread of this virus but also, everyone looks after each other in these coming weeks, if not months. That way, hopefully, life can return to normal sooner rather than later. With very best wishes Claire , Angie and everyone at Giles Brook School Following on from 16.03.20 national coronavirus update, I would like to advise you of the following:
If you or anyone in your household has either a new continuous cough or a high temperature (over 37.8 degrees), then you should stay at home for fourteen days. If your child was absent from school on Monday with one of these symptoms then please do not send your child into school for the next two weeks. Siblings of a child with the above symptoms should stay at home too. The advice goes on to say:That means that if possible you should not go out even to buy food or essentials, other than for exercise, and in that case at a safe distance from others. If necessary, you should ask for help from others for your daily necessities. And if that is not possible, then you should do what you can to limit your social contact when you leave the house to get supplies. Further advice about staying at home can be found by clicking here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-households-with-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection
Remember for most, and in particular children, COVID-19 will be a mild illness. It’s important and comforting for children that they continue their routines and we will endeavour to keep doing this as long as we are able to. Thank you for your support and understanding at this unique time. |
