Our Governors
Antony Moore – Co-opted Governor - Chair
I have two children, both of whom attended Giles Brook and are now at secondary school. I originally moved to Milton Keynes 40 years ago. I'm on various sub-committees and I'm Chair of Governors. I also sit on the Finance and Curriculum committees. My background is in accountancy and banking. I’m now involved in a local property company. My hobbies are going horse racing, playing golf and to ensure a life of pain and misery I support Millwall FC. Kate Rixon – Local Authority Governor – Vice Chair I have lived in Tattenhoe since 2014 and when we moved here, it quickly became apparent that Giles Brook School was the centre of the community and since my children started at the school, it has taken a firm place in my heart. I have 2 children at the school and they love it. My background is in HR and I spent a large portion of this in the logistics sector as part of the senior HR teams; managing a large team and supporting and partnering with the Business to deliver specific people and strategic objectives. I am now self-employed and have founded my own businesses in health and both physical and mental wellbeing, which affords me the time and flexibility in my role as a governor. I became a governor because I am keen to give a positive contribution to the community I live in and really understand the inner workings of a school, ensuring the children are getting the best education as possible, whilst being nurtured and supported in their individual talents and personalities. In addition to supporting the Governing Body as a whole, I am excited to be a part of the Curriculum and School Improvement Committee. Tracey Bailey – Co-opted Governor I’ve lived in Milton Keynes most of my life, leaving only to study Biological Sciences at Leicester University and for a short while in my first job. I have a PhD in Molecular Biology of Oesophageal cancer, which took me to work as a lecturer at Cranfield University where I now lead on Academic Development (I try and teach other lecturers to teach, which is especially interesting due to the diverse backgrounds and nationalities of our students!). My two boys both attended Giles Brook but are now at secondary school. I love living in Milton Keynes and being in the fantastic parks we have nearby. I became a governor in 2011 as I wanted to learn more about how schools work and see if I could make a positive contribution. I was Chair of Governors from September 2013 until 2020. Sarah Kotulecki – Co-opted Governor I have been a teacher for over 20 years and am passionate about making education inspiring for children. My background in education supports my role as a Governor. I grew up in the Lake District and enjoy outdoor pursuits. I enjoy nothing more than exploring the beautiful countryside around Milton Keynes with my family. Glen Trouse - Parent Governor I am a qualified Graphic Designer and Director of a Design Consultancy in Stony Stratford with 25 years’ experience in this sector. I’ve lived in Milton Keynes since 1979 and Tattenhoe since 1998 and believe Milton Keynes to be a remarkable and individual town, and take any opportunity to promote its unique benefits. I have a child at Giles Brook and enjoy supporting the school on its many fundraising enterprises with the Friends Association. As well as contributing my support generally to the Giles Brook Governing body, I plan to give my special support and expertise to the Giles Brook Art and Design curriculum. Manish Verma – Co-opted Governor I have been living in Tattenhoe since 2001, Both my kids passed out of Giles Brook School and are now enjoying Royal Latin School. Along with my Parish Councillor duties, I work in an advisory capacity for multiple Banks in UK. I’m Chair of the Finance, Personnel and Premises committee. I believe that clear direction and leadership are key to an effective school governing body and therefore a successful school. I have a proven track record of managing teams and driving through change in some challenging times and believe that this experience would be of value to the Governing Body and the school alike. I plan to participate constructively in the governance of the school, participate and contribute towards school policies, budgets and strategies, to be accessible and represent effectively the interests of the students and teachers. Last but not the least to participate and contribute to all the meetings Tom Welch – Co-opted Governor I have lived in Milton Keynes for 25 years with the exception of periods away for study. My Masters degree is in social and developmental psychology which I followed with two years study towards a PhD in education and pedagogy. I lost heart in academia and began a career in applied, school-based research. I have a particular interest in research that facilitates social mobility, tackles the educational effects of economic disadvantage and facilitates the nurturing of the whole student from early years provision onwards. I disseminate my research based recommendations through national, practitioner-led press and conferences. I now combine this education focus with a part-time role as a garden designer. This takes me all over my beloved city, including to more than a handful of gardens within a stone’s throw of Giles Brook! I am Chair of the Curriculum and School Improvement Committee Anita Vidal – Parent Governor I have lived in Tattenhoe since 2018 and have two children attending Giles Brook School (year 3 and foundation). Since joining the school, my experiences as a parent and volunteer have been positive, and I was delighted when the parents entrusted me to represent them as a Governor. I became a governor to support the school and ensure it continues to provide a great environment for all children to learn, thrive, and grow. I am new to the role and hope to draw from my professional experience (graphic design, marketing, and project management) to enable me to challenge and support the school.
